Preamble. Why the Earth Needs Rest More Than
Exploitation
From the beginning, God wove Sabbath into creation. He rested on the seventh
day, blessing time itself. In Leviticus 25, He commanded not only people but also
the land to rest every seventh year. The Sabbath for the land was not optional—it
was justice for the soil, the animals, and the poor. But modern systems—industrial
agriculture, deforestation, chemical fertilizers, and overfishing—trample this
command. The earth groans, as Romans 8 says, under exploitation. This booklet

of rest.
Prologue. The Field That Failed
A farmer pushed his fields hard. Year after year, no rotation, no fallow season.
Fertilizer masked the soil’s fatigue, but the yield shrank. Weeds and pests
multiplied. Debt piled up. Finally, the field went barren. Only when he let it lie
fallow, planted cover crops, and allowed the soil to heal did the land breathe again.
