Clean Oil · Honest Scales · Real Downstreams
Even the Barrels Remember
The Oil Game, my view from the yard, and God’s better way.
Summary
Used motor oil, hydraulics, coolant, and kitchen grease can serve communities—or scar them. This dock-level guide exposes water-weight tricks, mystery mixing, storm-drain dumping, and UCO theft, then lays out a Clean Oil Plan: covered storage, source segregation, on-pickup water/glycol testing with photo proof, real downstreams, and honest ledgers.
- How “free pickup, we recycle everything” breaks: dilution, cross-contamination, manifest theater.
- Why used-oil heaters + dirty blends = toxic smoke—and what compliant outlets look like.
- The UCO loop: theft, added water, alley spills—and fixes that actually work.
- Stormwater reality: dry-floor SOPs, no “mop to drain,” spill kits and logs.
Warning
This resource provides spiritual and educational guidance, not legal or emergency direction. Follow local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., used oil, UCO, stormwater). When hazards occur, contact the proper authorities immediately.
Plan
- Covered storage: lids on, secondary containment, labeled barrels by source/product.
- Segregation: keep oil, coolant, fuels, and water separate; reject unknowns.
- On-pickup testing: water/glycol test + timestamped photos; note temp and weather.
- Chain of custody: unique load IDs; driver ID; tare/gross; destination with permit #.
- Stormwater: dry-floor policy; drip pans; absorbents; spill-response log and kit checks.
- Downstreams: verified re-refiners/biodiesel plants with current permits and audits.
- Ledger: monthly public summary of volumes, contaminants rejected, and destinations.
