Domain 5: Lawlessness
Belial – The Lawless One
Problem: A World Without Restraint
In a healthy society, laws exist to protect the innocent, restrain the wicked, and reflect the justice of God. But in this present age, the guardrails have been ripped out.
- Children rebel against parents with no fear of consequence.
- Parents are imprisoned, leaving homes broken and vulnerable.
- Police departments are corrupted by politics, greed, or fear.
- Judges are compromised, twisting verdicts to serve agendas instead of justice.
- Citizens reject all authority, declaring themselves the ultimate standard of right and wrong.
The Bible’s warning in Judges 21:25 echoes in our streets: “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” When there is no ultimate authority, every man becomes his own god, and society descends into chaos.
Historical Context: Belial in Scripture
The name Belial appears throughout Scripture as a personification of worthlessness, wickedness, and total rejection of God’s order (Deuteronomy 13:13, 2 Samuel 23:6, 2 Corinthians 6:15). In the Dead Sea Scrolls, Belial is described as the leader of the “Sons of Darkness,” an enemy of the righteous who wages war against the “Sons of Light.”
Belial’s spirit is rebellion in its purest form. In the Old Testament, men called “Sons of Belial” were those who refused to submit to God’s law and authority, whether in the home, the temple, or the nation. This lawlessness was not simply criminal behavior—it was the spiritual conviction that no one had the right to rule over them—not even God Himself.
Today, the same spirit fuels riots, political corruption, gang violence, organized crime, and every movement that seeks to destroy godly order under the banner of freedom.
Result: The Collapse of Justice
- Murders increase.
- Riots erupt without warning.
- Looting and theft become normalized.
- Gunshots replace church bells in neighborhoods once filled with peace.
- Fear stalks the streets while justice flees from the courthouse.
- Authority is mocked, undermined, or bought outright.
The lawless spirit infects every level of society, from the classroom to the highest office.
Demonic Power: The Spirit of Belial
Belial operates through chaos. He glamorizes rebellion and anarchy, painting defiance as strength.
- He whispers that every authority is corrupt, so none should be obeyed.
- He convinces the oppressed to reject all structure instead of reforming what is broken.
- He twists authority into oppression and liberty into perversion.
In Belial’s system, the absence of law is celebrated as ultimate freedom, but the result is enslavement to sin.
The Redemption: Righteous Order Restored
The only true cure for lawlessness is the restoration of godly authority, starting in the home and flowing outward into every sphere of life. Read More
