Christ Inc — Clean Threads

From rags to robes: a godly perspective on clothing, dignity, and honest systems that serve neighbors first.

Godly Perspective on Clothing

From Eden’s coverings to the prodigal’s robe, Scripture shows that garments are more than fabric—they signal identity, belonging, and readiness. In Christ, we do not patch the old jacket; we receive a new wardrobe: “Put off the old self… put on the new self.” (Eph. 4:22–24) The Father doesn’t leave His kids in rags. He clothes us with salvation (Isa. 61:10), calls us to put on compassion and love (Col. 3:12–14), and frees us from anxiety about what we’ll wear (Matt. 6:25–34). Our work is to walk worthy of the clothes He gives—quietly, honestly, and in service to others.

  • Put off: hypocrisy, image‑management, extraction.
  • Put on: integrity, transparency, generosity.
  • Practice: confession as laundry, boundaries as closet rules, community as the mirror that tells the truth.

GIANT WARNING — CLOTHING BIN FRAUD & CONS

What often really happens (general industry patterns)

  • Anonymous, unstaffed bins use words like “recycle/charity,” but the fine print allows for‑profit collectors.
  • Bulk by the pound: your donations are baled and sold through graders/brokers; most value is captured mid‑stream, not by local families.
  • No receipts, no reporting: vague claims like “helps people” without transparent data (pounds in/out, vouchers redeemed, families clothed).
  • Export pipeline: usable clothing may be shipped overseas or diverted to rag markets while donors assume local impact.

How to protect your gift (fast checks)

  • Look for a real 501(c)(3) name and EIN on the bin; verify on the charity/IRS site.
  • Prefer staffed intake with itemized receipts and a public ledger.
  • Ask where the clothing goes first (local neighbors?) and what happens to the rest.

We’re not naming specific companies here—just warning you about common patterns so you’re not conned.

Our Clean Threads Solution (Honest Bins. Real Closets. Transparent Ledger.)

  1. Staffed Hubs Only: inside churches, community centers, and partner stores. EIN posted. Intake logged in view.
  2. Direct‑Need First: voucher‑based Community Closet for families in crisis. Free first. Dignity always.
  3. Low‑Cost Bins (In‑Store): affordable, clearly labeled bins that cover cleaning/logistics—not profit extraction.
  4. Upcycle Everything: repairs, fabric reuse, and facility rags so nothing good lands in a dumpster.
  5. Public Dashboard: pounds received, households clothed, vouchers redeemed, low‑cost placements, funds use, tons diverted.
  6. No Middleman Brokers. No Export Containers: neighbors first, supply chain clean.
